After the recent success of Firestorm: Market Garden at Gamescape North in San Rafael, Firestorm: Normandy was developed as a joint project between Endgame Oakland and Gamescape North. It will be based on a modified version of the Firestorm rules and be played over the course of about six months with half the games being at Endgame and half and Gamescape. Note that the games will be scheduled so that they do not interfere with the 2011 NorCal Tournament Circuit. Players may participate in any number of games they choose over the course of the campaign, though we hope that you’ll all come out for as many as possible!
A website with additional information regarding the campaign will be going up soon, but we wanted to get the word out regarding the opening day of the campaign as soon as possible, so welcome to…
D-DAY 2011
D-Day 2011 will represent the kick-off of the Allied Gamescape/Endgame Firestorm: Normandy campaign. The landings will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2011 at Endgame in Oakland, CA. Start time is 11:00am. D-Day will feature scenarios we rarely get to play, including Beach Landings, Airborne Landings, and Point Du Hoc.
Force Composition:
You may bring any German, American, or British Late War Infantry list that complies with the following requirements:
1) German lists may have no more than one Tank-rated platoon of four or fewer armored vehicles. German units may not purchase Air Support.
2) Fortifications will be provided as part of scenario set-up and may not be purchased (though if you have any extra terrain fortifications to allow us to set up more tables, they’d be appreciated).
3) American lists hitting the beaches may have only one Tank-rated platoon: either three 75mm Shermans or up to five 75mm Sherman DDs. Units may also have up to one unit of M7 Priest HMCs. Note that no vehicles other than jeeps will be permitted in American Airborne/Air Landing lists and no vehicles of any type may participate in the Point Du Hoc attack.
4) British non-airborne/air landing lists may only use 75mm Shermans in groups of three or Sherman DDs in groups of up to five, Sherman flail tanks, AVREs, and Breaching Groups. No other armored vehicles will be permitted.
5) British airborne/airlanding forces may only include Tetrachs and other air-mobile troops, no non-airmobile vehicles will be permitted.
6) Allied non-Airborne forces may purchase Naval Gunfire Support for 250 points as per the rules in Das Book.
Germans should bring a beach defense list of 1000 points and another list of 1750 points. Allied forces should be 1750 points. Preferred lists for the Germans are Festung Companies. Preferred lists for Americans are Assault Companies, Rangers, Paratroopers, and Glider Infantry. Preferred lists for the British are Rifle Companies (preferably from the beach landing sections of Turning the Tide), Paratroopers, Glider Infantry, and Commandos.
Note that while you do not have to make the D-Day event to participate in the subsequent Firestorm: Normandy campaign, it will have some impact on starting locations and initiative and we’d love to see you there!
Please RSVP (chrisru@endgameoakland.com) so that we get an idea of how many tables we need to set up. Also, we will be providing updates on expected attendees so that we can minimize or eliminate blue-on-blue battles. If you are willing to play either side, please say so in your RSVP. You can still indicate a preference!
