A while back I was actually working on rules for making a Necromunda-style game that would incorporate all armies of 40K and even a couple that don't have rules (Adeptus Arbites, Adeptus Mechanicus, Squats/Demiurg, Hrud, etc.). Basically you'd end up taking 100 points of troops and each troop member would act independantly and gain experience independantly just like in Necromunda.
After having experimented with Necromunda in the past I found that the system was greatly broken if "gangs" or "squads" had too many members (since half the experience that troops gained was a flat 'participation' bonus, squads that started with massive numbers of weak members very quickly caught up and overtook everyone else in terms of power) or if they started with much more powerful equipment (in which case they tended to massively dominate in the first couple games before falling way behind).
The Necromunda system also tried to extend games by making wounds not always take people out of combat (unless you were in close combat) and solve the problem of close-combat being massively more effective than shooting (particularly because of that wonky would rule and in the terrain you were encouraged to play in and the shooting weapons allowed) by making all shooting weapons pin.
But, generally, if there were interest I could probably dig up those rules I was working on and get back to work on them.
There is a WarHammer Fantasy game that works a lot like Necromunda called Mordenheim (but I'm sure everyone already knows that). Is that what you meant Black Sword? Or do you mean a full-out WarHammer Fantasy Battle campaign?
