Welcome to the bay area. If you're available on Wednesday nights, and if it's something you're interested in, I run a game on Wednesday nights in Oakland and I'm looking for players. Details here.

Welcome! I'm not sure anyone is still actively playing Malifaux, although you may be able to get a game in if scheduled beforehand. For skirmish games it seems like Warmachine/Hordes and Infinity are more popular, and we are about to start a new Warmachine league if you're interested: http://www.endgameoakland.com/…..nups-here/
There seem to be both very active RPG and 40k groups, but I wouldn't be the one with the info on that…

I'd recommend checking out the quick start rules for either game–
Hordes: http://privateerpress.com/file…..es-WEB.pdf
Warmachine: (1) http://privateerpress.com/file…..0Front.pdf (2) http://privateerpress.com/file…..20Back.pdf
And then come down for a demo game sometime. My guess is that it should be easy to get a demo game on a Tuesday/Wednesday night for the next few weeks, as that's when we should have 3-8 people around for league games. I'll be at EG this Sunday afternoon, Tuesday night around 730, and Wednesday night around 730, and would be happy to set up a game–but it would have to be a Hordes Trollblood vs. Trollblood game, unless someone else is around to lend you models. From there it would probably make sense to get the battlebox for whatever faction you were interested in.

Welcome to the Bay Area. I have two Malifaux gangs (Seamus and Lilith) but still haven't gotten around to assembling and painting them. But I do play Warmachine and can offer to demo the game as I've got enough Cygnar to field two starter groups. My suggestion would be do a demo to see if the game appeals to your style and then jump in.
