hey all.

been playing warhammer on and off for years but finally dropped it for a variety of reasons when 8th edition came out. i'm looking at magic as a possible way to go for some social pickup gaming at the store. i don't have any of the 2012 set and am hazy on a lot of the rules, as it's been a long long while and i never played much.

i do have some cards from the mid-late nineties with which i could fashion a functional if unremarkable red deck. i was just wondering if this would be acceptable for something like the thursday evening magic games, or if using the 2012 core set is a requirement. thanks.
