Help with StarCraft 2 miniatures from Santa!

My son is asking Santa for some StarCraft 2 figures this year. I've told him that Santa might not be able to find any, but he's insistent that "the elves can make them".  So I'm in a bit of a bind…

There are some Star Craft action figures available online, but they are collector's items and way outside the budget this year. (Santa is between jobs at the moment) I thought maybe I could find some miniatures that looked a lot like Star Craft 2 characters, but after many hours of searching I have not yet succeeded in finding anything that fits the bill at a decent price. Perhaps I just don't know where to look.

A friend suggested I ask the experts, and that's when I thought of EndGame and this forum. So I'm officially asking for help in pulling off what will be (for my son and I) a real Christmas Miracle!

What I'm looking for is some help finding miniatures with a Star Craft 2 "look". Basically things that could look like a Terran marine, a Zerg Hydralisk, Protoss Colossus, etc. Almost anything from the cannon would do. Painted would be best, though they don't have to be "museum grade" or anything, these figures would be loved and played with by a 7 year old boy. Unpainted might also work, as I could always try my hand at painting.  Looking "Starcrafty" and being cheap enough for a Dad who's was laid-off last month is the key. I'd really like my son to have a special Christmas this year and am crossing my fingers that some of you guys will be able to point me in the right direction. Any help at all would be most welcome.

Many, many thanks!

How about Halo Reach actionclix? It has all the good sci fi elements of power armored guys as a pre-painted miniatures game. You can always go with Warhammer 40k which is pretty much what inspired Starcraft. Assault on Black Reach is a great starter set to get in the hobby giving you everything you need to start playing. Or you can get the 40k cheaper 40k space marines paint set which gives you 5 marines and all the paints you need with a guide and brush.

Chad, thanks so much for your advice. Both the Halo Reach and the 40k Space Marines do look an awful lot like Starcraft Marines and Marauders. I'm half way there!

Any leads on Starcraft "Zerg" looking figures? I figure if I get a few Marines, and a few Zerg, then my son can have some fun battle play on our coffee table come Christmas.

Thanks again for your timely help Chad. It is much appreciated!

If you're looking for a quick space marines & zerg setup, get the Battle for Macragge boxed set if you can find it. EndGame might still have some; if not I'm sure there are sets available on ebay.

It is a set with all snap together miniatures, and it includes both space marines and tyranids which inspired the Zerg.

Greg is right, Battle for Macragge would be the way to go if you can still find it. If not, the termagant pack from games workshop would be an easy cheap zerg as the Zerg are pretty much Tyranids in the 40k universe.
