So, the Deff Dread was in my grasp with no real way to discern what I had gotten myself into. . .

Though given my propensity to just not care, I went about with an impromptu "Plan B" otherwise known as "Kit bash until the damn thing fits."

Mostly to my chagrin I found out that the black boxes don't come with instructions ( not that it really matters ), so I spent a considerable amount of time staring at the sprue, the separated pieces and finally feeling like a monkey trying to jam the Sphere into the Cube cut out, it eventually fit with the help of super glue and an hours worth of swearing. ( though an eight hour shift dealing with people doesn't help with your cognitive abilities, stupid public )

I plan to magnetize the joints, allowing full articulation and multiple weapon swaps depending on the game being played.

Incidentally, I removed the hatch and tried a few things:

and. . .

Which means, if you lop off the hatch, you can pretty much add a driver much akin to the Mega Dread offered by Forgeworld

I'll add more as I progress this evening. . .

For those who don't like the indent, if you happen to have a spare truck kit with the big shoota assembly free, you can go about evening the area with the upper swivel mount ( though honestly, I have no idea how to create the BS area, I just bought the truck kits as spare parts ) , hopefully the picture will speak for where my knowledge lacks.

I've decided on this as the face template, it reminds me of one of those bull demons from Doom.

The top hatch isn't glued on ( it's just there to fill in the gap for now ) as well as the base, just placed it on there for fun.

I plan on bulking out the legs, especially the "thigh" area since it seems exceedingly weedy.

Here are some other detailed shots, I went ahead and reversed and shortened the upper armor shoulder plates, they looked a bit bashed on and I figured it'd look better. I'd have to say it does.

There was an empty spot in the rear, so I figured adding an additional power pack ( plastic lascannon battery ) there would fill in the space nicely, which it did. Kind of gives it that removable battery look with the handle still attached.

Well, here's the initial stage of the leg bulk up. I plan on removing the upper spikes and replacing them with something else after I add another thin lay of polystyrene. Here's just a little "proof of concept". I'm liking it so far.

Since it'll be a Goff Dread, it'll have the four DCCW in addition to the rigged Skorcha's attached to two of the DCCW, cause burny death is just that awesome. I believe I'll place them on the lower limbs as the swivel mount will allow for more articulation.

I bulked out the thigh area and I must say it looks much better, though it might not suit most people. Plus I added those hooked spikes since I figured it fit well for the Goff aesthetic.

I've also done a rough angled cut on the polystyrene sheets placed on the upper thighs, I'm probably going to put some good old fashioned rivets there.

I'll post up more as I progress this evening.

I've moved onto the four DCCW, I'm going for two buzz blades ( incidentally they work great as buzz saws for Koptas ) and two claws ( which in turn would make a pretty nice Power Klaw for a Warboss ).

The weapons themselves articulate within the swivel mount, though it's quite easy to dislodge the nub, it wouldn't be difficult for someone with the right BB size and patience to create a swappable weapons system either.

Attached the arms, I'm going to keep the swivel joints loose and look around for the right BB diameter size so I can make the armament swappable.

The top and the search light are still removable, I'm probably going to keep it that way so I can switch out the hatch and make it easier for me to paint the dread.

Attached the weapons, I found the right BB diameter after digging around in my boxes. I'll post up those pictures later on.

The top piece / hatch mount and banner are all removable.

There are two Kustom Mega Blastas , Two Big Shootas, Two Rokkits, One Skorcha and Five DCCW along with a ton of extra bits.

All in all, it was an easy build once I got everything squared away in my mind.

I'll definitely pick up another kit.

Wow…that kit is a beast…I didn't realize how big it is!

Nice work and write-up.

Very cool.  Looking forward to seeing it painted.
