I just moved into the area, and I'm trying to find a new RPG group.  I'm a GM at heart, in love with character-driven, highly narrative RPGs.  I'm all about telling an awesome story, using frequently fatally flawed characters.  Not really into powergaming or heavy combat. You generally don't "win" my games, but I promise to never jerk around a player just to watch them jump.

I prefer darker games, with a gritty feel, and a streamlined, easy to use system.  I strongly dislike number crunching and character creation that takes hours.

Favorite games? I think Changeling: the Lost is about the best game ever made, Don't Rest Your Head, Little Fears, Unhallowed Metropolis, Fae Noir, Dogs in the Vineyard

Dislikes? Exalted, D&D, L5R, the mechanics of Shadowrun, most high fantasy

Looking for 3 or 4 people who'd like to start a new group, preferably once a week.  I'm in El Cerrito just off 80 and near a BART station.

How quick bright things come to confusion.

Agentofchaos, I wish you luck!  You just described what my games have been lacking.  (My last game suffered from a terminal case of hack-n-slash players.)  I hope you find (or have found) the player group you are looking for.

Unfortunately, despite me being in the vicinity, my disability keeps me out of face-to-face tabletop gaming, so I can't do much more than post to express character-driven-GM solidarity right now.  laugh  I am working on an online game using the Neverwinter Nights 1 engine, to circumvent my limitations, and I'll post about it here in this forum when it's ready to go.  I doubt it's something you'd be interested in (it's D&D after all), but I figured I'd mention it to keep this post from sounding too depressing.

Thank for the solidarity. I appreciate it, and wish you all the best in finding a setup that works best for you.

I think, I think we've got a solid group going, playing Changeling. I feel really positive about the people I'm playing with.  Though, as always, it's really weird to walk into a new group when you'd been playing with an old one for such a long time.

You've got a solid group a month and a half after posting here?  Dang, now I'm jealous. wink

Best of luck!
