Will you guys be hosting these games? I have an extremely vague understanding of it. But if it means playing more than once a week, I'm in.

They just announced this. I will check with Endgame peoples for space availablity. The D&D webpages say it is supposed to be on Wednesday nights. Play time is 1-2 hours, playing a single encounter every week to complete a campaign (first one from March 17th through June 2nd).
I will be requesting a single kit once they are available (Feb 8th) which can support 2 DM's and 12 players, with tokens, reward cards for players and DMs, etc. (I can cancel the request if somehow it just won't work out but it is good to get in these requests early. I can also request more depending on space and interest, within reason).
Listening to the presentation from DDXP via podcast, it does sound pretty cool and a great way to hop into a game, especially for brand new players. The first campaign is in LFR and characters will be "LFR exportable", but follow-up campaigns will be set in "new worlds".
Once I've had a chance to talk with peoples at Endgame, I will make a post on the matter (and collecting the available info so far).

I think they have board gaming on Wednesday, and some mini gaming, so I don't know if there would be many tables free. It sounds like fun though.

Is it required these games be run on Wednesday, or is that just when they release? Also, being that each session is only 1-2 hours, can't we just run multiple slots in a day?

On the RPGA boards at WotC they said that there would be more stuff involved if you play on Wednesday night, web content or tweets or something (I'm not really clear on what). You can play them later, you just don't get those things then. Or maybe they'd be spoilers.

Yeah, WotC says it's meant for Wednesday nights. In addition to all the web/community features, it's supposed to be a mid-week "fix" I guess. Personally, playing every Monday minus the day after convention weekends isn't enough. I would love a mid-week game. However, I understand why a lot of people might not be able to work it into their schedule when they're already giving up their Monday evenings (especially if you have kids). Then again it's only one encounter a week which lasts for an hour or two and if you don't do it, you don't lose out on that much, right? Isn't it just something to drop in on if you feel like getting some items or some extra XP? I mean, it's not as important as the regularly Monday games.

I bolded part of the description:
"D&D Encounters is an exciting, weekly campaign that plays out one epic encounter at a time. As you defeat enemies, solve puzzles, finish quests, and perform heroic deeds, you’ll earn Renown Points that you can use to get exclusive rewards.
Each session only takes 1-2 hours to play, so it’s easy to fit your game in after school or work. And each week there’s a new and exciting challenge. Jump in anytime!"

From Tuesday night through Wednesday night, there are buffs and other things that effect the game posted through the WotC Twitter account periodically. So if you played on Monday, you wouldn't get the full experience.
