1504
Tournaments
because
sometimes you need that extra meltagun…
Welcome
to 1504 Tournaments by Nick Hayden aka TastyTaste. What is a 1504
Tournament you might ask? Better yet whats not a 1504 Tournament ?
1504 Tournaments are not comp or sportsmanship hampered events. They
don't have convoluted unbalanced missions that only lead to arguments
and exploitation. They are not unpainted ard' boyz style events that
often bring out the worst in players. 1504 Tournaments are not afraid
of Draws or Kill Points. What 1504 Tournaments are is low stress 40k
with simple scoring and missions. 1504 Tournaments are at a point
level that allows for quick play and tactical army buildings. 1504
Tournaments attempt to play 40k as it is written in the rule books;
so no player feels like they missed something if they didn't read the
50 page rules or mission packet. Anyway enough of me soap boxing on
to important information you should read before coming to a 1504
Tournament.
What
you need to know before you come to a 1504 Tournament
-
Armies
will consist of 1504 points or
less, using the standard force organization chart.
-
Players
MUST use
the same army list throughout the tournament.
-
Each
player MUST bring
a total of THREE (3) objective markers based on 40mm circular bases.
-
All
models MUST
be
WYSIWYG and painted to a 3-color minimum standard. With the
exception of one unit that can be designated as unfinished.
-
The
Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Rules and all relevant Games Workshop
Errata and FAQs will be used.
-
The
following codices are allowed in the 1504 Tournament: Codex Black
Templars (I), Codex Blood Angels (I), Codex Chaos Daemons (H), Codex
Chaos Space Marines (H), Codex Daemonhunters (I), Codex Dark Angels
(I), Codex Dark Eldar (X), Codex Eldar (X), Codex Imperial Guard
(I), Codex Necrons (X), Codex Orks (X), Codex Space Marines (I),
Codex Space Wolves (I), Codex Tau Empire (X), Codex Tyranids (X),
Codex Witch Hunters (I). [I = Imperial, H = Heretical, X = Xenos
-
There
is no moratorium for any codex that happens to be released prior to
any 1504 Tournament.
-
A
separate printed army list is required for the judges and each of
your opponents.
-
Forge
World/Imperial Armor units are NOT
allowed
in the 1504 Tournaments; however players may still use their Forge
World models to represent a unit from their codex.
-
Individual
units that may have multiple rules versions will follow the rules
presented in that army's codex. Please take the time to review the
relevant GW FAQ's for clarifications.
-
Special/Unique/Named
Characters may be fielded, provided their individual rules allow
them to be used in armies of 1504 pts or less.
-
You
must provide access to your own rules (which include the actual
Codex used for your army), dice, templates, pen/pencil, calculator,
or anything else you'll need during the course of regular play.
Game
Time Rules
-
In
order to keep the tournament running on schedule, a final 15 minute
warning will be announced. Because of this, please be aware of the
time left in the round and DO
NOT start
a turn both players cannot finish.
-
If
illegal units or rules violations are found in a player's list, at a
minimum, the models in violation will be removed from all subsequent
play. Award eligibility will be forfeited. Please contact me at
anytime to ask any questions you may have regarding rules issues or
legal units in advance!
-
1504
Tournament Judges' rulings are final and arguments or poor conduct
by players will not be tolerated. I and Endgame staff reserves the
right to remove players from any tournament.
-
After
the first round, you will be paired against opponents with similar
records from round to round, in accordance to the ‘Swiss System’.
-
In
the final round you must pick your favorite game that you played.
Fill in your vote secretly and hand the completed form in with your
results card at the end of the final round. This will determine who
wins the Players Choice Award
Scenario
Rules
1504
Tournaments will only use the standard missions provided in the mini
rule book (pg 90) Before each game players will roll for mission and
deployment exactly as outlined by the basic rules. After the first
game each player will be provided ONE Scenario chip
that can be used to re-roll any mission or deployment. If the same
mission or deployment type is rolled continue to roll until a
different mission or deployment is selected. Once a chip is used
(before any additional rolls are made) your opponent has the
opportunity to use their chip to cancel the first chip played.
Whenever a chip is used it is discarded and cannot be used again for
the remainder of the tournament. All unused chips will be
calculated as 1 bonus point for the purpose of tiebreakers.
You
will score 3 battle points for each win, 1 point for each draw, and
nothing for each loss. If your opponent is “Wipeout!” (pg 90) or
chooses to concede you automatically score 3 points for the win. Any
player that intends to concede must call over a judge and explain the
reason for conceding before turning in any scoring sheet.
Each
round you MUST tally how many kill points you earned from your
opponent. If your opponent concedes you earn the total Kill points
possible. The total amount of Kill points taken will be used for
tiebreakers if they occur.
Sportsmanship
will be handled as a simple thumbs-down check box on the score sheet.
This is not a comp score, meaning what you think of their army is not
a viable reason for a thumbs down. We absolutely do not want to
create a situation where a player can secretly affect his opponent’s
score after losing a game. The temptation to ding someone unfairly is
too much for a lot of people to resist. If a player receives a thumbs
down, it is the responsibility for the player giving the thumbs down
to explain to the Judges why they gave their opponent a thumbs down.
We don’t want to create confrontational situations, but we do
believe in transparency. Don't ding someone’s score unless you are
prepared to defend your position.
Terrain
Guidelines
-
All
tables have fixed terrain for each game.
-
Any
objective markers can never count as any terrain feature they may
represent. They are treated as impassible terrain and can never
block line of sight or provide cover.
-
1504
Tournaments will use building rules as described on page 78 in the
mini rule book. All buildings will have 12 armor value and have a
“transport” capacity of 10. Unless “embarked” treat all
buildings as impassible terrain.
-
Terrain
features that have levels: each level requires 3 inches of movement
for any model to scale, no matter the actual height of the feature.
-
Destroyed
vehicles must have a “crater marker” to represent their
destruction . These craters provide 4+ cover save for any model
within them. The tournament organizer will provide “crater
markers” the size of the vehicle destroyed.
-
Aegis
Defense Lines will provide only +5 cover to any models behind them.
-
Please
review page 21 in the mini rule book concerning cover and terrain.
