Greetings:
I'm interested in giving Privateer Press' WarmaHorde games a shot – but which of the two games is more beginner friendly? I've an affinity for the Hordes Minion models but I'm not sure if that's the best thing to start off and learning the system with – I also can't seem to find a starter box for Minions as well, does it exist? Any info or advice is appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jude

The systems only have a few differences, so pick whichever models/faction appeals to you. When you say minions, do both the Gators and Pigs appeal or just one side or the other?
The only thing that can be tricky with them is that they work best as a whole faction and have more weaknesses if you pick just one side or the other.
If you can, we have a tournament this Wednesday evening that you could come down and watch some games and see how things are played. We also have a nice mix of Waremachine and Hores factions represented.
Minions don't really have a starter per se. They have a battlebox equivilent set of models for both pigs and gators though.

I liked the porcine Farrow models.
I'll try and make it to the tourney this Wednesday to observe – what time does it start?
I'll also have to check this battlebox out. Thanks for the info.

Tournament starts at 7pm Wednesday and goes until 12midnight.
Minions don't have a standard battebox and we probably will never see one as PP now views Minion/Mercenaries as a support faction. The Battlebox equivalent for the Thornfall Alliance (at least during the Journeyman League) would be Lord Carver, War Hog and Gun Boar x2. Personally, I find the Minions as a starter faction to be rather limiting. Each Minions alliance only has 3 casters and a handful of warbeast/units/solos. While its easy to get a viable force together, you'll find that expansion of the force narrow leading to stagnation. Any of the regular Hordes faction has a MUCH larger range of models to choose from and Warmachine has even more.

Just to play devil's advocate, the nice thing about playing Farrow is that it would be much less overwhelming for some new players since the options are more limited. If I was just getting into WarmaHordes I would probably choose Minions… love the models and like the idea of being able to fill out the whole faction pretty quickly/easily.

Sorry, I've gotten sick so I won't be able to make it to tonight's event. I'll be sure to check out next week's get together.

Heya — I have played Farrow quite a bit, and I agree with Elliott that Farrow are a great place to start, as long as you are cool with Farrow having a limited set of options compared with other factions. They are just fun to play. Carver in particular is a simple, brutally effective warlock with a great set of abilities and spells. Carver, two War Hogs, and a Gun Boar make a pretty darn good 15-point list for battlebox-style games.
Carver, War Hogs, and Rorsh & Brine are top of class. Everything else is at least good, with the possible exception of the artillery crew (which like 75% of the artillery in WarmaHordes, is underwhelming).
