Would anyone be interested in doing a Resurgence event for Warmachine? The rules can be found here:
http://privateerpress.com/comm…..resurgence
Since we have a lot of new/returning players, we could keep the points levels low, just to make sure everyone gets a chance to play. Rather than their 25/35/50 or 35/50/70, we could do something like 15/25/35 for the rounds. We could also run it closer to the end of the month or in February just to make sure everyone has a chance to get their stuff painted and get used to the Mk.2 rules.

…which means you only have to paint, like, 20 models. Fully Painted in 2010!

So Finn, since the fancy new site is launching soon, when is our first painting workshop :D
Ps to all: Don't bother ordering one of those WM/Hordes Battle Foam cases—I ordered one two weeks ago, and apparently the shipping date got pushed back 3 weeks and it won't be out till mid February (if we are lucky). Guess I'll just keep toting around a limited set of models in my padded lunchbox…

So, how 'bout that Resurgence event? Guess that's a "no", huh?
Ah, well.

Psh, those fools aren't going to keep me down. We'll work it out. I personally don't think that us noobs are yet at the level of skill and experience required for such an undertaking, but maybe after our 9309234 hour WM marathon on Monday, we'll have what it takes!

I'm one of those new players. I can only play on alternate Wed and Sundays, so I am hoping that Sunday is a play-day for Warmachine (I'm keeping Sat for 40K).
I hope there is tolerance for unpainted armies, at least at first. I'm still assembling mine and will take a little while to paint.
There was talk about doing it tomorrow – Monday, right?

Haha, yes, we will all be the silverfish crew. Frank and I also just got into WM, so much of our models are unassembled, and many of the rest are unpainted. We'll both be up at Endgame tomorrow assembling and playing, feel free to stop by!

BUMMER – My childcare for the day has fallen through. If I can arrange something else, I'll be there. If not, I'll definitely be available next Sunday, if any of you are available. So I might see you there today, but might not.

I would rather us hold a say 25 point (or maybe even 15 point) tournament if we were going to have one. I mean I have absolutly no interest in playing a single 75 point game, essecially not under the time constraint of a tournament, and honestly, its the smaller games warmachine that really make it shine in its simplicity.

The 15/25/35 thing looks pretty good, if that's a requirement for the "Resurgence" event…
I was also mentioning to Finn today that the time might be right for a "Finish an Army Challenge" event for War Machine & Hordes.
If people are interested, I saved the guidelines from the one we did last year for 40K. Basically, it's an escalation event and there are different painting periods with points given for progress (not ability). Then, on the last day of the period, everyone comes in to show-off/verify their progress, games are played at that points level, and there are prizes for things like most progress, most models in the period, players' choice. It's a great way to get some group motivation and folks end up with painted forces.
I'm no WM guru, but I do enjoy playing and I actually got a whole bunch of painting done in the challenge. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Are there enough WM players for a painting challenge? If not, I wonder if we could organize a combined WM/Hordes, 40K and Fantasy painting Challenge? I don't think there is going to be a 40K specific one this year, because its being handled differently within the 40K Fight Club.

I like the idea of a painting challenge. It dovetails nicely with the regular painting events that Anthony and I have been hashing out. I'll talk it over with him today and start a new thread for it once we've agreed on a starting point.
David, I'm not sure how it would work out to mix WM with the GW games since the GW games have a significantly higher model count. We'll definitely talk about it though.

Yeah – I'm brand new to Warmachine, so my knowledge is limited. But Units can be up to 9 or so, so they are close to a typical non-horde 40K unit. And a battlegroup could be the other unit equivalent – but you are right, it isn't really the same.

I thought more about this, and you could create separte "Divisions" – 40K division, Warmachine division, fantasy division – each division has different goals for the periods. But by doing them all together in one event, you get to see models from all games in one event (and it keeps it coordinated if you choose to participate in more than one division). I think its doable – unless you get so many participants that you just don't have space for them to display at the scoring events.
