Welcome the EndGame Café General and Assistant Managers!

EndGame has had quite a journey in getting the café up and running. It’s due to generous amount of patience and passion from the EndGame community that we’ve been able to keep the project going, and are now tantalizingly close to completion.

As a sign of tides turning in everyone’s favor, we’ve been able to lock down two brand-spankin’ new professionals: General Manager Jay and Assistant Manager Charles.

Jay grew up in Southwestern Missouri, found his way to the Bay Area about five years ago, and has been a part of EndGame’s community ever since. A 20 year veteran of tabletop gaming, he started with Dungeons and Dragons, Shadowrun, Battletech, Warhammer Fantasy, 40k, and Blood Bowl. He’s since expanded his repertoire to include Settlers of Catan, Battlestar Galactica, Ticket to Ride, a little bit of Magic: The Gathering, and much more. Although this is Jay’s first step into the world of coffee, he’s tended and managed bars for nearly twelve years.

Charles is a NorCal native who landed in Oakland one day and fell in love with the place. He’s a fan of Magic: The Gathering and plays board games like Epic Spell Wizards, Pandemic, Boss Monster, and Settlers of Catan on a weekly basis with family and friends.

He has whopping eight years of experience in the café industry. He started out as a barista with Flying Goat Coffee Roasters in Healdsburg California, and then traveled around the American West shopping his barista skills around to various cafes. To top it all off, he’s a co-founder of B-Real Espresso, a business that brings café equipment and beans to music festivals and prepares drinks for the patrons.

But don’t take our word for how awesome they are. Here are Jay and Charles’ greetings in their own words:

“I’m overwhelmed and humbled to be part of such a great community, and have quickly begun to think of the staff at EndGame as a quirky extended family. I’m truly excited to help expand the EndGame franchise for its die-hard and loyal customer base, as well as the entire neighborhood; gamer and non-gamer alike.
My vision for the cafe isn’t for it to be just an add-on to the shop, but a  location that supports our local gamers and acts as a hub for the entire community. We will be doing this by providing a variety of special events and truly unique food and beverage offerings."

–Jay

“Hey fellow gamers and coffee lovers. I'm excited to put together an awesome cafe experience at your favorite game store. I'll be putting together a menu with all your favorite specialty beverages. I will focus on quality and authenticity. I look forward to your feedback and getting to know each other over the counter.”

–Charles

Everyone at EndGame is excited to have management of the café in Charles’ and Jay’s very capable hands. And in a very short time, you will be too!
